Clippers Didn't Bother To Tell Mike Dunleavy That He Was Being Fired

I don't think Mike Dunleavy is smiling this morning. The fact that the Clippers kicked Dunleavy to the curb isn't surprising at all. For the most part, Dunleavy was a disaster in Los Angeles. What is somewhat surprising is that he was completely blindsided by the decision:
"I come back to my locker around 7 p.m. and there's a million messages on my phone," Dunleavy said.
"This guy comes up to me and said, 'What's going on? They just said on TV that the Clippers severed ties with you?'
"I had no idea what they were talking about. I'm like, 'Wow. I haven't even talked to the Clippers.' "
Well, on second thought, this is the Los Angeles Clippers we're talking about. Perhaps it really shouldn't be such a surprise...especially with reports that vagabond coach Larry Brown has expressed interest in rejoining the Clippers organization.
The fact that Brown is currently coaching a team in a dogfight for a playoff berth is beside the point. Brown has always been a self serving opportunist looking out for nobody but himself. Truth be told, the dysfunctional Donald Sterling and Brown deserve each other. Look for Larry to be on the Clippers bench next season. It's destiny.
